The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, signed recently, provides a tax credit for qualifying energy-efficient home improvements, including windows and doors purchased and installed between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010. Homeowners can receive a tax credit equal to 30% of their investment, up to $1,500. In order to receive the tax credit, the window or door must achieve a .30 or lower U-Factor and a .30 or lower Solar Heat Gain Coefficient.
